Before sunrise I call to you for help; I place my hope in your promise.

Lord, I call to you for help; every morning I pray to you.

Very early the next morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a lonely place, where he prayed.

I wait for the Lord more eagerly than sentries wait for the dawn— than sentries wait for the dawn.

Morning, noon, and night my complaints and groans go up to him, and he will hear my voice.

At night I long for you with all my heart; when you judge the earth and its people, they will all learn what justice is.

Answer me, Lord, in the goodness of your constant love; in your great compassion turn to me!

During the day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer; I call at night, but get no rest.

They forced the poor to cry out to God, and he heard their calls for help.

and by your power we defeat our enemies.

But you have been our king from the beginning, O God; you have saved us many times.

How happy are those who live in your Temple, always singing praise to you.

Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help!

I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king; I will thank you forever and ever.

And when I begged you to listen to my cry, you heard.
