The Lord answered, “I will forgive them, as you have asked.
So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect.
When God said that he would destroy his people, his chosen servant, Moses, stood up against God and kept his anger from destroying them.
O Lord, our God, you answered your people; you showed them that you are a God who forgives, even though you punished them for their sins.
In the desert I showed mercy to those people who had escaped death. When the people of Israel longed for rest,
Moses replied, “I will be glad to pray for you. Just set the time when I am to pray for you, your officers, and your people. Then you will be rid of the frogs, and there will be none left except in the Nile.”
So the Lord changed his mind and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
