Our enemies have no reason to gloat over us. We have fallen, but we will rise again. We are in darkness now, but the Lord will give us light.

Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. “I am the light of the world,” he said. “Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.”

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.

Light shines in the darkness for good people, for those who are merciful, kind, and just.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The Lord protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid.

You should not have gloated over the misfortune of your relatives in Judah. You should not have been glad on the day of their ruin. You should not have laughed at them in their distress.

The God who said, “Out of darkness the light shall shine!” is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God's glory shining in the face of Christ.

Don't let my enemies gloat over my distress; don't let them boast about my downfall!

There shall be no more night, and they will not need lamps or sunlight, because the Lord God will be their light, and they will rule as kings forever and ever.

The Lord is our protector and glorious king, blessing us with kindness and honor. He does not refuse any good thing to those who do what is right.

I have never been glad when my enemies suffered, or pleased when they met with disaster;

Light shines on the righteous, and gladness on the good.

just as you rejoiced at the devastation of Israel, my own possession. The mountains of Seir, yes, all the land of Edom, will be desolate. Then everyone will know that I am the Lord.”

Don't let my enemies, those liars, gloat over my defeat. Don't let those who hate me for no reason smirk with delight over my sorrow.

I am telling you the truth: you will cry and weep, but the world will be glad; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into gladness.

But for you who obey me, my saving power will rise on you like the sun and bring healing like the sun's rays. You will be as free and happy as calves let out of a stall.

Then our enemies will see this and be disgraced—the same enemies who taunted us by asking, “Where is the Lord your God?” We will see them defeated, trampled down like mud in the streets.

“This is what the Sovereign Lord is saying: You clapped your hands and jumped for joy. You despised the land of Israel.

You are to open their eyes and turn them from the darkness to the light and from the power of Satan to God, so that through their faith in me they will have their sins forgiven and receive their place among God's chosen people.’

The Lord says, “A day is coming when I will restore the kingdom of David, which is like a house fallen into ruins. I will repair its walls and restore it. I will rebuild it and make it as it was long ago.

The people who live in darkness will see a great light. On those who live in the dark land of death the light will shine.”

The Lord says, “People of Babylonia, you plundered my nation. You are happy and glad, going about like a cow threshing grain or like a neighing horse,

I will say to the prisoners, ‘Go free!’ and to those who are in darkness, ‘Come out to the light!’ They will be like sheep that graze on the hills;

Now, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light which the Lord gives us!

If they fall, they will not stay down, because the Lord will help them up.

The wicked borrow and never pay back, but good people are generous with their gifts.

The city has no need of the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God shines on it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

All of you that honor the Lord and obey the words of his servant, the path you walk may be dark indeed, but trust in the Lord, rely on your God.

there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.

Such people will stumble and fall, but we will rise and stand firm.

At that time the Lord will protect those who live in Jerusalem, and even the weakest among them will become as strong as David was. The descendants of David will lead them like the angel of the Lord, like God himself.

My enemies have hunted me down and completely defeated me. They have put me in a dark prison, and I am like those who died long ago.
