“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.

Now that you know this truth, how happy you will be if you put it into practice!

But Jesus answered, “Rather, how happy are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

If we obey God's commands, then we are sure that we know him.

The way to become wise is to honor the Lord; he gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands. He is to be praised forever.

Sensible people accept good advice. People who talk foolishly will come to ruin.

“If you love me, you will obey my commandments.

And you are my friends if you do what I command you.

God said to us humans, “To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord. To understand, you must turn from evil.”

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.

Whoever does what my Father in heaven wants is my brother, my sister, and my mother.”

I understand more than all my teachers, because I meditate on your instructions.

The explanation of your teachings gives light and brings wisdom to the ignorant.

Why is a clever person wise? Because he knows what to do. Why is a stupid person foolish? Because he only thinks he knows.

Storms come, and the wicked are blown away, but honest people are always safe.

The wicked meet their downfall and leave no descendants, but the families of the righteous live on.

The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock.

“But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it.

“Who, then, is a faithful and wise servant? It is the one that his master has placed in charge of the other servants to give them their food at the proper time.

Five of them were foolish, and the other five were wise.

while the wise ones took containers full of oil for their lamps.

‘No, indeed,’ the wise ones answered, ‘there is not enough for you and for us. Go to the store and buy some for yourselves.’

For it is not by hearing the Law that people are put right with God, but by doing what the Law commands.
