And don't be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by and news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come.

How terrible for the world that there are things that make people lose their faith! Such things will always happen—but how terrible for the one who causes them!

Do not lose courage or be afraid because of the rumors you hear. Every year a different rumor spreads—rumors of violence in the land and of one king fighting another.

“Do not join in the schemes of the people and do not be afraid of the things that they fear.

You will not have to worry about sudden disasters, such as come on the wicked like a storm.

He is not afraid of receiving bad news; his faith is strong, and he trusts in the Lord.

Even if a whole army surrounds me, I will not be afraid; even if enemies attack me, I will still trust God.

We will all die; we are like water spilled on the ground, which can't be gathered again. Even God does not bring the dead back to life, but the king can at least find a way to bring a man back from exile.

“Do not be worried and upset,” Jesus told them. “Believe in God and believe also in me.

When King Herod heard about this, he was very upset, and so was everyone else in Jerusalem.

Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, ‘I am he!’ and they will fool many people.

Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be earthquakes everywhere, and there will be famines. These things are like the first pains of childbirth.
