The people in front scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even more loudly, “Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

Some people brought their babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. The disciples saw them and scolded them for doing so,

Three times I prayed to the Lord about this and asked him to take it away.

Then some of the Pharisees in the crowd spoke to Jesus. “Teacher,” they said, “command your disciples to be quiet!”

He cried out, “Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to teach them that they should always pray and never become discouraged.

“How terrible for you teachers of the Law! You have kept the key that opens the door to the house of knowledge; you yourselves will not go in, and you stop those who are trying to go in!”

While Jesus was saying this, a messenger came from the official's house. “Your daughter has died,” he told Jairus; “don't bother the Teacher any longer.”

“Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

“Why are you so frightened?” Jesus answered. “What little faith you have!” Then he got up and ordered the winds and the waves to stop, and there was a great calm.

Jesus left that place, and as he walked along, two blind men started following him. “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” they shouted.

So Jesus stopped and ordered the blind man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him,
