I tell you,” said Jesus, “the tax collector, and not the Pharisee, was in the right with God when he went home. For those who make themselves great will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be made great.”

Whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great.

Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.

But the grace that God gives is even stronger. As the scripture says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

In the same way you younger people must submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you must put on the apron of humility, to serve one another; for the scripture says, “God resists the proud, but shows favor to the humble.”

No one is respected unless he is humble; arrogant people are on the way to ruin.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Even though you are so high above, you care for the lowly, and the proud cannot hide from you.

Human pride will be ended, and human arrogance will be destroyed. Idols will completely disappear, and the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

You save those who are humble, but you humble those who are proud.

A day is coming when human pride will be ended and human arrogance destroyed. Then the Lord alone will be exalted.

Reverence for the Lord is an education in itself. You must be humble before you can ever receive honors.

God brings down the proud and saves the humble.

Samuel answered, “Even though you consider yourself of no importance, you are the leader of the tribes of Israel. The Lord anointed you king of Israel,

He has stretched out his mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans.

“I am the high and holy God, who lives forever. I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are humble and repentant, so that I can restore their confidence and hope.

You save those who are humble, but you humble those who are proud.

Too much honey is bad for you, and so is trying to win too much praise.

He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly.

Those Christians who are poor must be glad when God lifts them up,

Humble yourselves, then, under God's mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time.

Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry and get the robes and the horse, and provide these honors for Mordecai the Jew. Do everything for him that you have suggested. You will find him sitting at the entrance of the palace.”
