It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He trusted God to keep his promise.

Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah did not.

Abraham and Sarah were very old, and Sarah had stopped having her monthly periods.

They both lived good lives in God's sight and obeyed fully all the Lord's laws and commands.

One day Zechariah was doing his work as a priest in the Temple, taking his turn in the daily service.
