The Word was in the world, and though God made the world through him, yet the world did not recognize him.

Righteous Father! The world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you sent me.

See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children—and so, in fact, we are. This is why the world does not know us: it has not known God.

None of the rulers of this world knew this wisdom. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

For God in his wisdom made it impossible for people to know him by means of their own wisdom. Instead, by means of the so-called “foolish” message we preach, God decided to save those who believe.

“My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

It is by faith that we understand that the universe was created by God's word, so that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen.

No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.

But he has always given evidence of his existence by the good things he does: he gives you rain from heaven and crops at the right times; he gives you food and fills your hearts with happiness.”

Jesus answered them, “My Father is always working, and I too must work.”

Hagar asked herself, “Have I really seen God and lived to tell about it?” So she called the Lord, who had spoken to her, “A God Who Sees.”

After he had finished speaking with Abraham, the Lord went away, and Abraham returned home.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the Almighty God. Obey me and always do what is right.

We despised him and rejected him; he endured suffering and pain. No one would even look at him— we ignored him as if he were nothing.

Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him.

He came to his own country, but his own people did not receive him.

yet there is for us only one God, the Father, who is the Creator of all things and for whom we live; and there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and through whom we live.

For through him God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through him and for him.
