Their father said to them, “Do you want to make me lose all my children? Joseph is gone; Simeon is gone; and now you want to take away Benjamin. I am the one who suffers!”

May Almighty God cause the man to have pity on you, so that he will give Benjamin and your other brother back to you. As for me, if I must lose my children, I must lose them.”

Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us?

We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.

At once Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him and said, “What little faith you have! Why did you doubt?”

Good people suffer many troubles, but the Lord saves them from them all;

Joseph provided food for his father, his brothers, and all the rest of his father's family, including the very youngest.

“My son Joseph is still alive!” he said. “This is all I could ask for! I must go and see him before I die.”

And this small and temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble.

Reuben said to his father, “If I do not bring Benjamin back to you, you can kill my two sons. Put him in my care, and I will bring him back.”

The Lord says, “A sound is heard in Ramah, the sound of bitter weeping. Rachel is crying for her children; they are gone, and she refuses to be comforted.

Joseph's servant searched carefully, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest, and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
