Leah said, “I have been lucky”; so she named him Gad.

“Gad will be attacked by a band of robbers, But he will turn and pursue them.

“But it will be different for you that forsake me, who ignore Zion, my sacred hill, and worship Gad and Meni, the gods of luck and fate.

Gad and his sons: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod, and Areli.

The sons of Leah's slave Zilpah were Gad and Asher. These sons were born in Mesopotamia.
