In the first year that Belshazzar was king of Babylonia, I had a dream and saw a vision in the night. I wrote the dream down, and this is the record

The Sovereign Lord never does anything without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets.

“Afterward I will pour out my Spirit on everyone: your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your old people will have dreams, and your young people will see visions.

One night King Belshazzar invited a thousand noblemen to a great banquet, and they drank wine together.

But I had a frightening dream and saw terrifying visions while I was asleep.

God gave the four young men knowledge and skill in literature and philosophy. In addition, he gave Daniel skill in interpreting visions and dreams.

The prophet who has had a dream should say it is only a dream, but the prophet who has heard my message should proclaim that message faithfully. What good is straw compared with wheat?

Write, then, the things you see, both the things that are now and the things that will happen afterward.

The Lord gave me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance.

The visions I saw alarmed me, and I was deeply disturbed.

During this vision in the night, I saw what looked like a human being. He was approaching me, surrounded by clouds, and he went to the one who had been living forever and was presented to him.

In the second year that Nebuchadnezzar was king, he had a dream. It worried him so much that he couldn't sleep,

and the Lord said, “Now hear what I have to say! When there are prophets among you, I reveal myself to them in visions and speak to them in dreams.

God spoke to him in a vision at night and called, “Jacob, Jacob!” “Yes, here I am,” he answered.

As soon as they spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice speak from heaven, “Keep secret what the seven thunders have said; do not write it down!”

I have to boast, even though it doesn't do any good. But I will now talk about visions and revelations given me by the Lord.

Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.

In the third year that Belshazzar was king, I saw a second vision.

As I was watching, a fourth beast appeared. It was powerful, horrible, terrifying. With its huge iron teeth it crushed its victims, and then it trampled on them. Unlike the other beasts, it had ten horns.

That same night Belshazzar, the king of Babylonia, was killed;

“But you, his son, have not humbled yourself, even though you knew all this.

On the fifth day of the fourth month of the thirtieth year, I, Ezekiel the priest, son of Buzi, was living with the Jewish exiles by the Chebar River in Babylonia. The sky opened, and I saw a vision of God. (

So I called Baruch son of Neriah and dictated to him everything that the Lord had said to me. And Baruch wrote it all down on a scroll.

All nations will serve him, and they will serve his son and his grandson until the time comes for his own nation to fall. Then his nation will serve powerful nations and great kings.

God told me to write down in a book what the people are like, so that there would be a permanent record of how evil they are.

The Lord said to me, “Take a large piece of writing material and write on it in large letters: ‘Quick Loot, Fast Plunder.’

Like a nightmare it disturbed my sleep.

After this, Abram had a vision and heard the Lord say to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I will shield you from danger and give you a great reward.”

Then I took another scroll and gave it to my secretary Baruch, and he wrote down everything that I dictated. He wrote everything that had been on the first scroll and similar messages that I dictated to him.

In a vision God took me to the land of Israel and put me on a high mountain. I saw in front of me a group of buildings that looked like a city.

The king said to Daniel (who was also called Belteshazzar), “Can you tell me what I dreamed and what it means?”

“While I was thinking about the vision, I saw coming down from heaven an angel, alert and watchful.
