The Lord said to him, “Go, because I have chosen him to serve me, to make my name known to Gentiles and kings and to the people of Israel.

I am speaking now to you Gentiles: As long as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I will take pride in my work.

Through him God gave me the privilege of being an apostle for the sake of Christ, in order to lead people of all nations to believe and obey.

and that is why I was sent as an apostle and teacher of the Gentiles, to proclaim the message of faith and truth. I am not lying; I am telling the truth!

“I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations.”

A soldier on active duty wants to please his commanding officer and so does not get mixed up in the affairs of civilian life.

‘Go,’ the Lord said to me, ‘for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

You did not choose me; I chose you and appointed you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that endures. And so the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name.

God has appointed me as an apostle and teacher to proclaim the Good News,

From Paul, whose call to be an apostle did not come from human beings or by human means, but from Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from death.

But by God's grace I am what I am, and the grace that he gave me was not without effect. On the contrary, I have worked harder than any of the other apostles, although it was not really my own doing, but God's grace working with me.

While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, to do the work to which I have called them.”

For my sake you will be brought to trial before rulers and kings, to tell the Good News to them and to the Gentiles.

They will fight against the Lamb; but the Lamb, together with his called, chosen, and faithful followers, will defeat them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings.”

and said, ‘Don't be afraid, Paul! You must stand before the Emperor. And God in his goodness to you has spared the lives of all those who are sailing with you.’

And Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been released if he had not appealed to the Emperor.”

Agrippa said to Festus, “I would like to hear this man myself.” “You will hear him tomorrow,” Festus answered.

Paul greeted them and gave a complete report of everything that God had done among the Gentiles through his work.

But the Lord said to me, “Do not say that you are too young, but go to the people I send you to, and tell them everything I command you to say.

After three days Paul called the local Jewish leaders to a meeting. When they had gathered, he said to them, “My fellow Israelites, even though I did nothing against our people or the customs that we received from our ancestors, I was made a prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.

He said, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see his righteous Servant, and to hear him speaking with his own voice.

Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak on your own behalf.” Paul stretched out his hand and defended himself as follows:

And Paul concluded: “You are to know, then, that God's message of salvation has been sent to the Gentiles. They will listen!”

From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus and an apostle chosen and called by God to preach his Good News.

I have no right to boast just because I preach the gospel. After all, I am under orders to do so. And how terrible it would be for me if I did not preach the gospel!

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles, pray to God.
