Acts 6:3

So then, friends, choose seven men among you who are known to be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we will put them in charge of this matter.

Choose some wise, understanding, and experienced men from each tribe, and I will put them in charge of you.’

and have a reputation for good deeds: a woman who brought up her children well, received strangers in her home, performed humble duties for other Christians, helped people in trouble, and devoted herself to doing good.

Everyone speaks well of Demetrius; truth itself speaks well of him. And we add our testimony, and you know that what we say is true.

Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven; it comes down from God, the Creator of the heavenly lights, who does not change or cause darkness by turning.

Do not get drunk with wine, which will only ruin you; instead, be filled with the Spirit.

After I come, I shall give letters of introduction to those you have approved, and send them to take your gift to Jerusalem.

The group presented them to the apostles, who prayed and placed their hands on them.

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

“So then, someone must join us as a witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He must be one of the men who were in our group during the whole time that the Lord Jesus traveled about with us, beginning from the time John preached his message of baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us to heaven.”

You must not be called ‘Teacher,’ because you are all equal and have only one Teacher.

They know how to do their work, because God has taught them.

He will give a sense of justice to those who serve as judges, and courage to those who defend the city gates from attack.

The Spirit gives one person a message full of wisdom, while to another person the same Spirit gives a message full of knowledge.

All the believers in Lystra and Iconium spoke well of Timothy.

and they sent the following letter by them: “We, the apostles and the elders, your brothers, send greetings to all our brothers of Gentile birth who live in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia.

When the believers found out about this, they took Saul to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus.

But in addition, you should choose some capable men and appoint them as leaders of the people: leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens. They must be God-fearing men who can be trusted and who cannot be bribed.

So a report spread among the followers of Jesus that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say he would not die; he said, “If I want him to live until I come, what is that to you?”

A few days later there was a meeting of the believers, about a hundred and twenty in all, and Peter stood up to speak.

So the twelve apostles called the whole group of believers together and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the preaching of God's word in order to handle finances.

The whole group was pleased with the apostles' proposal, so they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a Gentile from Antioch who had earlier been converted to Judaism.

We found some believers there who asked us to stay with them a week. And so we came to Rome.
