There at the Beautiful Gate, as it was called, was a man who had been lame all his life. Every day he was carried to the gate to beg for money from the people who were going into the Temple.

In Lystra there was a crippled man who had been lame from birth and had never been able to walk.

His neighbors, then, and the people who had seen him begging before this, asked, “Isn't this the man who used to sit and beg?”

There was also a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who used to be brought to the rich man's door,

and said: ‘Cornelius! God has heard your prayer and has taken notice of your works of charity.

As Jesus was coming near Jericho, there was a blind man sitting by the road, begging.

He stared at the angel in fear and said, “What is it, sir?” The angel answered, “God is pleased with your prayers and works of charity, and is ready to answer you.

The man on whom this miracle of healing had been performed was over forty years old.

and when they recognized him as the beggar who had sat at the Beautiful Gate, they were all surprised and amazed at what had happened to him.
