and said, “Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven.”

Look, he is coming on the clouds! Everyone will see him, including those who pierced him. All peoples on earth will mourn over him. So shall it be!

There will be the shout of command, the archangel's voice, the sound of God's trumpet, and the Lord himself will come down from heaven. Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first;

Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am.

“When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne,

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; and all the peoples of earth will weep as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

and for many days he appeared to those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now witnesses for him to the people of Israel.

Full of fear, the women bowed down to the ground, as the men said to them, “Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive?

When Peter saw the people, he said to them, “Fellow Israelites, why are you surprised at this, and why do you stare at us? Do you think that it was by means of our own power or godliness that we made this man walk?

In amazement and wonder they exclaimed, “These people who are talking like this are Galileans!

But Peter denied it again. A little while later the bystanders accused Peter again, “You can't deny that you are one of them, because you, too, are from Galilee.”

I assure you that there are some here who will not die until they have seen the Son of Man come as King.”

After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God.

until the day he was taken up to heaven. Before he was taken up, he gave instructions by the power of the Holy Spirit to the men he had chosen as his apostles.

After saying this, he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

He must remain in heaven until the time comes for all things to be made new, as God announced through his holy prophets of long ago.

In the same manner Christ also was offered in sacrifice once to take away the sins of many. He will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are waiting for him.
