The next morning Elkanah and his family got up early, and after worshiping the Lord, they went back home to Ramah. Elkanah had intercourse with his wife Hannah, and the Lord answered her prayer.

The Lord blessed Sarah, as he had promised,

Hannah made a solemn promise: “Lord Almighty, look at me, your servant! See my trouble and remember me! Don't forget me! If you give me a son, I promise that I will dedicate him to you for his whole life and that he will never have his hair cut.”

Then God remembered Rachel; he answered her prayer and made it possible for her to have children.

Then Adam had intercourse with his wife, and she became pregnant. She bore a son and said, “By the Lord's help I have gotten a son.” So she named him Cain.

and he slept there. At dawn Samuel called to Saul on the roof, “Get up, and I will send you on your way.” Saul got up, and he and Samuel went out to the street together.

God had not forgotten Noah and all the animals with him in the boat; he caused a wind to blow, and the water started going down.

He did not forget us when we were defeated; his love is eternal;

you hear my voice in the morning; at sunrise I offer my prayer and wait for your answer.

Then Elkanah went back home to Ramah, but the boy Samuel stayed in Shiloh and served the Lord under the priest Eli.

There was a man named Elkanah, from the tribe of Ephraim, who lived in the town of Ramah in the hill country of Ephraim. He was the son of Jeroham and grandson of Elihu, and belonged to the family of Tohu, a part of the clan of Zuph.

Then he would go back to his home in Ramah, where also he would serve as judge. In Ramah he built an altar to the Lord.

Then all the leaders of Israel met together, went to Samuel in Ramah,

Then Samuel went to Ramah, and King Saul went home to Gibeah.

Samuel took the olive oil and anointed David in front of his brothers. Immediately the spirit of the Lord took control of David and was with him from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

David escaped and went to Samuel in Ramah and told him everything that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.

Samuel died, and all the Israelites came together and mourned for him. Then they buried him at his home in Ramah. After this, David went to the wilderness of Paran.

But, as Elisha had said, at about that time the following year she gave birth to a son.
