Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope,

But God's mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great,

By his own will he brought us into being through the word of truth, so that we should have first place among all his creatures.

as we wait for the blessed Day we hope for, when the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ will appear.

But the truth is that Christ has been raised from death, as the guarantee that those who sleep in death will also be raised.

Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.

Those who are children of God do not continue to sin, for God's very nature is in them; and because God is their Father, they cannot continue to sin.

Be like newborn babies, always thirsty for the pure spiritual milk, so that by drinking it you may grow up and be saved.

But Christ is faithful as the Son in charge of God's house. We are his house if we keep up our courage and our confidence in what we hope for.

For we remember before our God and Father how you put your faith into practice, how your love made you work so hard, and how your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ is firm.

God's plan is to make known his secret to his people, this rich and glorious secret which he has for all peoples. And the secret is that Christ is in you, which means that you will share in the glory of God.

For it was by hope that we were saved; but if we see what we hope for, then it is not really hope. For who of us hopes for something we see?

If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you.

They did not become God's children by natural means, that is, by being born as the children of a human father; God himself was their Father.

So he prayed, “Lord, didn't I say before I left home that this is just what you would do? That's why I did my best to run away to Spain! I knew that you are a loving and merciful God, always patient, always kind, and always ready to change your mind and not punish.

Those of our people who have died will live again! Their bodies will come back to life. All those sleeping in their graves will wake up and sing for joy. As the sparkling dew refreshes the earth, so the Lord will revive those who have long been dead.

We know that no children of God keep on sinning, for the Son of God keeps them safe, and the Evil One cannot harm them.

You must, of course, continue faithful on a firm and sure foundation, and must not allow yourselves to be shaken from the hope you gained when you heard the gospel. It is of this gospel that I, Paul, became a servant—this gospel which has been preached to everybody in the world.

We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life!

Because of our sins he was given over to die, and he was raised to life in order to put us right with God.

You are good to us and forgiving, full of constant love for all who pray to you.

Praise the Lord, the God of Israel! Praise him now and forever! Amen! Amen!

Then David commanded the people, “Praise the Lord your God!” And the whole assembly praised the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they bowed low and gave honor to the Lord and also to the king.

He said, “Praise the Lord God of Israel! He has kept the promise he made to my father David, when he told him,

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God.

Our friends, we want you to know the truth about those who have died, so that you will not be sad, as are those who have no hope.

As for those who follow this rule in their lives, may peace and mercy be with them—with them and with all of God's people!

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and in his grace gave us unfailing courage and a firm hope,

So then, have your minds ready for action. Keep alert and set your hope completely on the blessing which will be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Through him you believe in God, who raised him from death and gave him glory; and so your faith and hope are fixed on God.

For the devout women of the past who placed their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful by submitting themselves to their husbands.

But have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord. Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you,

When King Hezekiah and his officials saw how much had been given, they praised the Lord and praised his people Israel.
