Zechariah 8:3

God's Word

This is what the Lord says: I will return to Zion and live in Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth. The mountain of the Lord of Armies will be called the holy mountain.

“I have installed my own king on Zion, my holy mountain.”

The Lord is great. He should be highly praised. His holy mountain is in the city of our God.

“Then I will live among the Israelites and be their God.

How the faithful town has become a prostitute! She was full of justice, and righteousness lived in her. But now murderers live there!

I will give you judges like you had long ago, advisers like you had in the beginning. After that you will be called the Righteous City, the Faithful Town.”

They will not hurt or destroy anyone anywhere on my holy mountain. The world will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord like water covering the sea.

Shout loudly, and sing with joy, people of Zion! The Holy One of Israel is great. He is among you.”

Then justice will live in the wilderness, and righteousness will be at home in the fertile field.

The descendants of those who oppress you will bow in front of you. All who despise you will bow at your feet. They will call you the city of the Lord, Zion, the city of the Holy One of Israel.

Wolves and lambs will feed together, lions will eat straw like oxen, and dust will be food for snakes. “They will not hurt or destroy anyone anywhere on my holy mountain,” says the Lord.

They will bring all your relatives from every nation like a grain offering to the Lord. “They will come on horses, in chariots, in wagons, on mules and camels to my holy mountain, Jerusalem,” declares the Lord. They will come like the people of Israel who bring their grain offerings in clean dishes to the Lord’s temple.

I am here with the children that the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord of Armies, who lives on Mount Zion.

Why should you be like someone taken by surprise, like a strong man who cannot help? You, O Lord, are among us. We are called by your name. Don’t leave us!

“Micah from Moresheth prophesied at the time of Judah’s King Hezekiah and said to all the people of Judah, ‘This is what the Lord of Armies says: Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a pile of rubble, and the temple mountain will become a worship site covered with trees.’

This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: When I have brought them back from captivity, they will once again use this saying in Judah and in its cities: “The Lord bless you, home of righteousness, holy mountain.

In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live securely. Jerusalem will be called The Lord Our Righteousness.

The city will measure about 31,500 feet all the way around. From then on the city’s name will be: The Lord Is There.

Lord, since you are very righteous, turn your anger and fury away from your city, Jerusalem, your holy mountain. Jerusalem and your people are insulted by everyone around us because of our sins and the wicked things our ancestors did.

“You will know that I am the Lord your God. I live on my holy mountain, Zion. Jerusalem will be holy. Foreigners will never invade it again.

I will punish those who murder.” The Lord lives in Zion!

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s house will be established as the highest of the mountains and raised above the hills. People will stream to it.

The faithful few in Israel will not do wrong, tell lies, or use their tongues to deceive others. They will graze their sheep and lie down, and there will be no one to terrify them.”

This is what the Lord of Armies says: I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion. My house will be rebuilt in it, declares the Lord of Armies. A measuring line will be used to rebuild Jerusalem.

“On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire on a pile of wood and like a burning torch among freshly cut straw. They will burn up all the surrounding nations to the right and to the left. But the people of Jerusalem will remain safe in Jerusalem.

The whole earth will become like the plains from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem will rise and remain on its site, from Benjamin Gate to the place of First Gate, Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses.

You must do these things: Speak the truth to each other. Give correct and fair verdicts for peace in your courts.

This is what the Lord of Armies says: The fast in the fourth month, the fast in the fifth month, the fast in the seventh month, and the fast in the tenth month will become joyful and glad occasions as well as happy festivals for the nation of Judah. So love truth and peace.

The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory. It was the glory that the Father shares with his only Son, a glory full of kindness  and truth.

Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will go to them and make our home with them.

Can God’s temple contain false gods? Clearly, we are the temple of the living God. As God said, “I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

All of God lives in Christ’s body,

He carried me by his power away to a large, high mountain. He showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.

Nothing unclean, no one who does anything detestable, and no liars will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the lamb’s Book of Life will enter it.

I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “God lives with humans! God will make his home with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them and be their God.
