Zechariah 8:12

God's Word

Seeds will thrive in peacetime. Vines will produce their grapes. The land will yield its crops. The sky will produce its dew. I will give the few remaining people all these things as an inheritance.

Isaac planted ⌞crops⌟ in that land. In that same year he harvested a hundred times as much as he had planted because the Lord had blessed him.

May God give you dew from the sky, fertile fields on the earth, and plenty of fresh grain and new wine.

Elijah, who was from Tishbe but had settled in Gilead, said to Ahab, “I solemnly swear, as the Lord God of Israel whom I serve lives, there will be no dew or rain during the next few years unless I say so.”

May the mountains bring peace to the people and the hills bring righteousness.

The Lord will certainly give us what is good, and our land will produce crops.

The rage of a king is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

The Lord will give you rain for the seed that you plant in the ground, and the food that the ground provides will be rich and nourishing. When that day comes, your cattle will graze in large pastures.

You will receive a double measure of wealth instead of your shame. You will sing about your wealth instead of being disgraced. That is why you will have a double measure of wealth in your land. You will have everlasting joy.

They will come and shout for joy on top of Mount Zion. They will stream to it to enjoy the Lord’s blessings: fresh grain, new wine, and olive oil, lambs and calves. Their lives will be like well-watered gardens, and they will never suffer again.

They will no longer be prey to the nations, and the wild animals will no longer eat them. They will live safely, and no one will frighten them.

I will bring people, my people Israel, to you. They will take possession of you, and you will be their inheritance. You will no longer take their children away from them.

I will make fruit grow on the trees and crops grow in the fields so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famines.

I am for you. I will turn to you, and you will be plowed and planted.

That is why they will be like fog in the morning and like morning dew that disappears quickly. They will be like straw blown away from threshing floors. They will be like smoke rising from chimneys.

I will be like dew to the people of Israel. They will blossom like flowers. They will be firmly rooted like cedars from Lebanon.

The Lord said to his people, “I am going to send grain, new wine, and olive oil to you. You will be satisfied with them. I will no longer make you a disgrace among the nations.

Wild animals, do not be afraid. The pastures in the wilderness have turned green. The trees have produced their fruit. There are plenty of figs and grapes.

“This is what I will do if you will live by my laws and carefully obey my commands:

The faithful few in Israel will not do wrong, tell lies, or use their tongues to deceive others. They will graze their sheep and lie down, and there will be no one to terrify them.”

It is because of you that the sky has withheld its dew and the earth has withheld its produce.

Carefully consider from now on, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day when the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. Carefully consider:

Is there any seed left in the barn? The vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree still haven’t produced. But from now on I will bless you.”

This is what the Lord of Armies says: It may seem impossible to the few remaining people in those days, but will it seem impossible to me? declares the Lord of Armies.

Then, for your sake, I will stop insects from eating ⌞your crops⌟. They will not destroy the produce of your land. The vines in your fields will not lose their unripened grapes,” says the Lord of Armies.

But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you.

So don’t brag about people. Everything belongs to you.

Let my teachings come down like raindrops. Let my words drip like dew, like gentle rain on grass, like showers on green plants.

About the tribes of Joseph he said, “May the Lord bless their land with ⌞water,⌟ the best gift heaven can send, with dew and deep springs below the ground.

So Israel will live securely. Jacob’s spring will be ⌞left⌟ alone in a land of grain and new wine. Dew will drip from Israel’s skies.

A harvest that has God’s approval comes from the peace planted by peacemakers.
