God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all people because the earth is full of their violence. Now I’m going to destroy them along with the earth.

Indeed, you have made the length of my days ⌞only⌟ a few inches. My life span is nothing compared to yours. Certainly, everyone alive is like a whisper in the wind. Selah

“Absolutely pointless!” says the spokesman. “Absolutely pointless! Everything is pointless.”

They’ve left it a wasteland. Devastated, it mourns in my presence. The whole land is destroyed, but no one takes this to heart.

How long will the land mourn? How long will the plants in every field remain dried up? The animals and the birds are dying, because people are wicked. They think that God  doesn’t know what they are doing.

That is why the land is drying up, and everyone who lives in it is passing away. Wild animals, birds, and fish are dying.

The animals groan. Herds of cattle wander around confused. There’s no pasture for them. Even flocks of sheep are suffering.

We know that all creation has been groaning with the pains of childbirth up to the present time.

We were saved with this hope in mind. If we hope for something we already see, it’s not really hope. Who hopes for what can be seen?
