Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be arrogant, but be friendly to humble people. Don’t think that you are smarter than you really are.

Also, God guided the people of Judah so that they united to carry out the command which the king and the leaders gave from the Lord’s word.

“Certainly, God is mighty. He doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty and brave.

Whoever makes fun of a poor person insults his maker. Whoever is happy ⌞to see someone’s⌟ distress will not escape punishment.

Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his good deed.

Loyalty is desirable in a person, and it is better to be poor than a liar.

The entire family of a poor person hates him. How much more do his friends keep their distance from him! When he chases them with words, they are gone.

Have you met a person who thinks he is wise? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Answer a fool with his own stupidity, or he will think he is wise.

Do not consider yourself wise. Fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.

How horrible it will be for those who think they are wise and consider themselves to be clever.

I will give them the same attitude and the same purpose so that they will fear me as long as they live. This will be for their own good and for the good of their children.

Are you looking for great things for yourself? Don’t look for them, because I’m going to bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord. But wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’ ”

Blind people see again, lame people are walking, those with skin diseases are made clean, deaf people hear again, dead people are brought back to life, and poor people hear the Good News.

You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me with you.

Instead, when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the handicapped, the lame, and the blind.

Jesus looked at his disciples and said, “Blessed are those who are poor. God’s kingdom is theirs.

The whole group of believers lived in harmony. No one called any of his possessions his own. Instead, they shared everything.

That’s right! They were broken off because they didn’t believe, but you remain on the tree because you do believe. Don’t feel arrogant, but be afraid.

Brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery so that you won’t become arrogant. The minds of some Israelites have become closed until all of God’s non-Jewish people are included.

Because of the kindness  that God has shown me, I ask you not to think of yourselves more highly than you should. Instead, your thoughts should lead you to use good judgment based on what God has given each of you as believers.

May God, who gives you this endurance and encouragement, allow you to live in harmony with each other by following the example of Christ Jesus.

That’s unthinkable! As far as sin is concerned, we have died. So how can we still live under sin’s influence?

Brothers and sisters, I encourage all of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to agree with each other and not to split into opposing groups. I want you to be united in your understanding and opinions.

Don’t deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise in the ways of this world, you should give up that wisdom in order to become really wise.

We have given up our wisdom for Christ, but you have insight because of Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.

You should be ashamed of yourselves! Don’t you have at least one wise person who is able to settle disagreements between believers?

Those who think they know something still have a lot to learn.

With that, brothers and sisters, I must say goodbye. Make sure that you improve. Accept my encouragement. Share the same attitude and live in peace. The God of love and peace will be with you.

Live as citizens who reflect the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come to see you or whether I stay away, I’ll hear all about you. I’ll hear that you are firmly united in spirit, united in fighting for the faith that the Good News brings.

However, we should be guided by what we have learned so far.

I encourage both Euodia and Syntyche to have the attitude the Lord wants them to have.

Don’t love money. Be happy with what you have because God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you.”

Finally, everyone must live in harmony, be sympathetic, love each other, have compassion, and be humble.

Don’t be rulers over the people entrusted to you, but be examples for the flock to follow.

I wrote a letter to the congregation. But Diotrephes, who loves to be in charge, won’t accept us.
