Arise, O Lord. Do not let mortals gain any power. Let the nations be judged in your presence.

Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! You have slapped all my enemies in the face. You have smashed the teeth of wicked people.

Arise! Help us! Rescue us because of your mercy!

Wake up! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Awake! Do not reject us forever!

Arise, O Lord! Lift your hand, O God. Do not forget oppressed people!

Arise in anger, O Lord. Stand up against the fury of my attackers. Wake up, my God. You have already pronounced judgment.

The Lord declares, “Just wait! One day I will stand up as a witness. I have decided to gather nations, to bring kingdoms together, and to pour my rage, my burning anger, on them. The whole land will be consumed by my fiery fury.

Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Lord! Wake up as you did in days long past, as in generations long ago. Didn’t you cut Rahab  into pieces and stab the serpent?

to take vengeance on the nations, to punish the people of the world,

Pour your fury on the nations that do not know you, on the kingdoms that have not called you.

A sharp sword comes out of his mouth to defeat the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter and tread the winepress of the fierce anger of God Almighty.

If the people of Egypt won’t go or enter Jerusalem, then ⌞rain won’t fall⌟ on them. The plague the Lord uses to strike the nations will affect those who won’t come to celebrate the Festival of Booths.

I will take revenge with great anger on the nations that do not obey me.”

Wake up, you nations. Come to the valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.

Pour out your fury on the nations who don’t know you and on people who don’t worship you. They have devoured the descendants of Jacob. They have devoured them completely. They have destroyed their homes.

Appear in front of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Wake up your power, and come to save us.

Asa called on the Lord his God. He said, “Lord, there is no one except you who can help those who are not strong so that they can fight against a large ⌞army⌟. Help us, Lord our God, because we are depending on you. In your name we go against this large crowd. You are the Lord our God. Don’t let anyone successfully oppose you.”

He safeguards the steps of his faithful ones, but wicked people are silenced in darkness because humans cannot succeed by their own strength.

The man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob but Israel [He Struggles With God], because you have struggled with God and with men—and you have won.”
