But if he says, ‘I’m not pleased with you,’ let him do to me what he considers right.”

The Lord burned with anger against his own people. He was disgusted with those who belonged to him.

O God, you have rejected us. You have broken down our defenses. You have been angry. Restore us!

Isn’t it you, O God, who rejected us? Isn’t it you, O God, who refused to accompany our armies?

Will the Lord reject ⌞me⌟ for all time? Will he ever accept me?

When God heard, he became furious. He completely rejected Israel.

Look at our shield, O God. Look with favor on the face of your anointed one.

Your enemies insulted ⌞me⌟. They insulted your Messiah  every step he took.

O Lord, even if I would argue my case with you, you would always be right. Yet, I want to talk to you about your justice. Why do wicked people succeed? Why do treacherous people have peace and quiet?

The Lord rejected his altar and disowned his holy place. He handed the walls of Zion’s palaces over to its enemies. The enemies made noise in the Lord’s temple as though it were a festival day.

The person the Lord anointed ⌞as king⌟, who is the breath of our life, was caught in their pits. We had thought that we would live in our king’s shadow among the nations.”

My God will reject them because they refused to listen to him. They will wander among the nations.

I got rid of three shepherds in one month. I became impatient with the sheep, and they also became disgusted with me.

“Arise, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my friend,” declares the Lord of Armies. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered. Then I will turn my hand against the little ones.”

The Lord saw this and rejected them, because his own sons and daughters had made him angry.
