I will make his dynasty endure forever and his throne like the days of heaven.

He will build a temple for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom permanently over Israel.’ ”

The Lord swore an oath to David. This is a truth he will not take back: “I will set one of your own descendants on your throne.

He asked you for life. You gave him a long life, forever and ever.

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter in your kingdom is a scepter for justice.

His dynasty will last forever. His throne will be in my presence like the sun.

‘I will make your dynasty continue forever. I built your throne to last throughout every generation.’ ” Selah

Open your ears, and come to me! Listen so that you may live! I will make an everlasting promise  to you— the blessings I promised to David.

“This is my promise  to them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I put in your mouth will not leave you. They will be with your children and your grandchildren permanently,” says the Lord.

His government and peace will have unlimited growth. He will establish David’s throne and kingdom. He will uphold it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The Lord of Armies is determined to do this!

“At the time of those kings, the God of heaven will establish a kingdom that will never be destroyed. No other people will be permitted to rule it. It will smash all the other kingdoms and put an end to them. But it will be established forever.

Then you and your children will live for a long time in this land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors—as long as there’s a sky above the earth.
