So these days must be remembered and observed in every age, family, province, and city. These days of Purim must not be ignored among the Jews, and the importance of these days must never be forgotten by the generations to come.

This will be written down for a future generation so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord:

One generation will praise your deeds to the next. Each generation will talk about your mighty acts.

They will tell people yet to be born about his righteousness— that he has finished it.

Examine its embankments. Walk through its palaces. Then you can tell the next generation,

Even when I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me live to tell the people of this age what your strength has accomplished, to tell about your power to all who will come.

Let ⌞us,⌟ your servants, see what you can do. Let our children see your glorious power.

You will be able to tell your children and grandchildren exactly how I treated the Egyptians and what miraculous signs I did among them. This is how you will all know that I am the Lord.”

Tell your children about it. Have your children tell their children. Have your grandchildren tell their children.

Never forget the day you stood in front of the Lord your God at Mount Horeb. The Lord had said to me, “Assemble the people in front of me, and I will let them hear my words. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live on earth, and they will teach their children the same thing.”
