Psalm 69:3

I am exhausted from crying for help. My throat is hoarse. My eyes are strained ⌞from⌟ looking for my God.

My face is red from crying, and dark shadows encircle my eyes,

My eyes are strained from looking for you to save me and from looking for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.

My strength is dried up like pieces of broken pottery. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You lay me down in the dust of death.

He placed a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see this and worship. They will trust the Lord.

I am worn out from my groaning. My eyes flood my bed every night. I soak my couch with tears.

They poisoned my food, and when I was thirsty, they gave me vinegar to drink.

Your rage lies heavily on me. You make all your waves pound on me. Selah

I chirped like swallows and cranes. I cooed like doves. My eyes were tired from looking up to heaven. I’ve suffered miserably, O Lord! Please help me!

My eyes are worn out with tears. My stomach is churning. My heart is poured out on the ground because of the destruction of my people. Little children and infants faint in the city streets.

After this, when Jesus knew that everything had now been finished, he said, “I’m thirsty.” He said this so that Scripture could finally be concluded.

You will watch with your own eyes as your sons and daughters are given to another nation. You will strain your eyes looking for them all day long, but there will be nothing you can do.

During his life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and he was heard because of his devotion to God.
