“Please, Lord, remember how I’ve lived faithfully and sincerely in your presence. I’ve done what you consider right.” And he cried bitterly.

Now my eyes are blurred from grief. Now all my limbs are like a shadow.

Likewise, I have been given months that are of no use, and I have inherited nights filled with misery.

When I kept silent ⌞about my sins⌟, my bones began to weaken because of my groaning all day long.

My heart is pounding. I have lost my strength. Even the light of my eyes has left me.

Those who hate me for no reason outnumber the hairs on my head. Those who want to destroy me are mighty. They have no reason to be my enemies. I am forced to pay back what I did not steal.

My eyes grow weak because of my suffering. All day long I call out to you, O Lord. I stretch out my hands to you ⌞in prayer⌟.

You said, ‘I’m so miserable! The Lord has added grief to my pain. I’m worn out from groaning. I can’t find any rest.’

This is why we feel sick. This is why our eyes see less and less.
