They attack, and then they hide. They watch my every step as they wait to take my life.

People ridiculed me with their mouths. They slapped my cheeks with contempt. They united against me.

Doesn’t he see my ways and count all my steps?

They plan evil things in their hearts. They start fights every day.

The wicked person watches the righteous person and seeks to kill him.

⌞My enemies⌟ spread out a net to catch me. (My soul is bowed down.) They dug a pit to trap me, but then they fell into it. Selah

They lie in ambush for me right here! Fierce men attack me, O Lord, but not because of any disobedience,

My enemies talk about me. They watch me as they plot to take my life.

Your enemies insulted ⌞me⌟. They insulted your Messiah  every step he took.

You wicked one, do not lie in ambush at the home of a righteous person. Do not rob his house.

“If anyone attacks you, it will not be my doing. Whoever attacks you will be defeated by you.

I have heard many ⌞people⌟ whispering, “Terror is everywhere! Report him! Let’s report him!” All my closest friends are waiting to see me stumble. They say, “Maybe he will be tricked. Then we can overpower him and take revenge on him.”

So the other officials and satraps tried to find something to accuse Daniel of in his duties for the kingdom. But they couldn’t find anything wrong because he was trustworthy. No error or fault could be found.

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the chief priest, where the experts in Moses’ Teachings and the leaders had gathered together.

Early in the morning all the chief priests and the leaders of the people decided to execute Jesus.

So they watched for an opportunity to send out some spies. The spies were to act like sincere religious people. They wanted to catch him saying the wrong thing so that they could hand him over to the governor.
