Frightened, Jehoshaphat decided to ask for the Lord’s help. He announced a fast throughout Judah.

The people of Judah gathered to seek the Lord’s help. They came from every city in Judah.

The Lord is on my side. I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?

There is nothing but truth in your word, and all of your righteous regulations endure forever.

The promises of the Lord are pure, like silver refined in a furnace and purified seven times.

I will bow toward your holy temple. I will give thanks to your name because of your mercy and truth. You have made your name and your promise greater than everything.

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Who is there to fear? The Lord is my life’s fortress. Who is there to be afraid of?

Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be intimidated; I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will support you with my victorious right hand.

The Scriptures cannot be discredited. So if God calls people gods (and they are the people to whom he gave the Scriptures),

So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can mortals do to me?”

David was in great distress because the people in their bitterness said he should be stoned. (They were thinking of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.)
