Wake up! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Awake! Do not reject us forever!
“Because oppressed people are robbed and needy people groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will provide safety for those who long for it.”
Wake up, and rise to my defense. Plead my case, O my God and my Lord.
But now you have rejected and disgraced us. You do not even go along with our armies.
Arise in anger, O Lord. Stand up against the fury of my attackers. Wake up, my God. You have already pronounced judgment.
Why, O God, have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep in your care?
Will the Lord reject ⌞me⌟ for all time? Will he ever accept me?
Then the Lord woke up like one who had been sleeping, like a warrior sobering up from ⌞too much⌟ wine.
Why do you reject my soul, O Lord? Why do you hide your face from me?
Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Lord! Wake up as you did in days long past, as in generations long ago. Didn’t you cut Rahab into pieces and stab the serpent?
But he was sleeping on a cushion in the back of the boat. So they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to die?”
