Blessed is the one who has concern for helpless people. The Lord will rescue him in times of trouble.

He gives freely to poor people. His righteousness continues forever. His head is raised in honor.

The righteous person has many troubles, but the Lord rescues him from all of them.

They will not be put to shame in trying times. Even in times of famine they will be satisfied.

He is always generous and lends freely. His descendants are a blessing.

Whoever despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is the one who is kind to humble people.

A king’s anger announces death, but a wise man makes peace with him.

Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his good deed.

Remember your Creator when you are young, before the days of trouble come and the years catch up with you. They will make you say, “I have found no pleasure in them.”

But at that time I will rescue you, declares the Lord. You will not be handed over to those you fear.

You will always have the poor with you and can help them whenever you want. But you will not always have me with you.

I have given you an example that by working hard like this we should help the weak. We should remember the words that the Lord Jesus said, ‘Giving gifts is more satisfying than receiving them.’ ”

The only thing they asked us to do was to remember the poor, the very thing which I was eager to do.

We encourage you, brothers and sisters, to instruct those who are not living right, cheer up those who are discouraged, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.

God is fair. He won’t forget what you’ve done or the love you’ve shown for him. You helped his holy people, and you continue to help them.

No mercy will be shown to those who show no mercy to others. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Because you have obeyed my command to endure, I will keep you safe during the time of testing which is coming to the whole world to test those living on earth.
