The king finds joy in your strength, O Lord. What great joy he has in your victory!
“I have installed my own king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
Give victory to the king, O Lord. Answer us when we call.
The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted him, so I received help. My heart is triumphant; I give thanks to him with my song.
My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge.
But the king will find joy in God. Everyone who takes an oath by God will brag, but the mouths of liars will be shut.
O God, you have taught me ever since I was young, and I still talk about the miracles you have done.
Come, let’s sing joyfully to the Lord. Let’s shout happily to the rock of our salvation.
The king’s strength is that he loves justice. You have established fairness. You have done what is fair and right for Jacob.
They asked, “Where is the one who was born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and have come to worship him.”
We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Now he holds the honored position—the one next to God the Father on the heavenly throne.
