Through your servants  you defy the Lord and say, “With my many chariots I’ll ride up the high mountains, up the slopes of Lebanon. I’ll cut down its tallest cedars and its finest cypresses. I’ll come to its most distant borders and its most fertile forests.

Asa went to confront him, and the two armies set up their battle lines in the Zephathah Valley at Mareshah.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

Those who trust the Lord are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken. It remains firm forever.

No king achieves a victory with a large army. No warrior rescues himself by his own great strength.

Horses are not a guarantee for victory. Their great strength cannot help someone escape.

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.

⌞The Lord says,⌟ “I will cure them of their unfaithfulness. I will love them freely. I will no longer be angry with them.

Don’t laugh at me, my enemies. Although I’ve fallen, I will get up. Although I sit in the dark, the Lord is my light.

They came out with all their armies. Their troops were as numerous as the grains of sand on the seashore. They also had horses and chariots.

May all your enemies die like that, O Lord. But may those who love the Lord be like the sun when it rises in all its brightness. So the land had peace for 40 years.

David told the Philistine, “You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Armies, the God of the army of Israel, whom you have insulted.
