Can you trust it just because it’s so strong or leave your labor to it?

People in the streets call for wine. All joy passes away, and the earth’s happiness is banished.

I will rejoice about Jerusalem and be glad about my people. Screaming and crying will no longer be heard in the city.

If I go to the field, I see those killed because of war. If I go to the city, I see those sick because of famine. Prophets and priests wander through a land they haven’t heard of.

The Lord will let your enemies defeat you. You will attack them from one direction but run away from them in seven directions. You will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms in the world.

The Lord will defeat your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction but run away from you in seven directions.

When the people chose new gods, war broke out inside the city gates. Not a weapon was seen among 40,000 in Israel.

Whenever Israel planted crops, Midian, Amalek, and Kedem came and damaged the crops.

So the Israelites became very poor because of Midian and cried out to the Lord for help.

When the people of Israel on the other side of the valley and across the Jordan River saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities. So the Philistines came to live in these cities.
