“They may sin against you. (No one is sinless.) You may become angry with them and hand them over to an enemy who takes them to ⌞another⌟ country as captives, ⌞whether it is⌟ far or near.

You observe this and call me to account to you.

Why should a mortal be considered faultless or someone born of a woman be considered righteous?

How can a person be righteous to God? How can anyone born of a woman be pure?

‘Can ⌞any⌟ mortal be righteous to God? Can ⌞any⌟ human being be pure to his maker?’

O Lord, who would be able to stand if you kept a record of sins?

He continues to show his love to thousands of generations, forgiving wrongdoing, disobedience, and sin. He never lets the guilty go unpunished, punishing children and grandchildren for their parents’ sins to the third and fourth generation.”

Certainly, there is no one so righteous on earth that he always does what is good and never sins.

Not one person can have God’s approval by any effort to follow the laws in the Scriptures. These laws show what sin is.

Yet, we know that people don’t receive God’s approval by any effort to follow the laws in the Scriptures, but only by believing in Jesus Christ. So we also believed in Jesus Christ in order to receive God’s approval by faith in Christ and not by our own efforts. People won’t receive God’s approval by their own efforts.

If we say, “We have never sinned,” we turn God into a liar and his Word is not in us.
