Psalm 132:11

The Lord swore an oath to David. This is a truth he will not take back: “I will set one of your own descendants on your throne.

The Lord has taken an oath and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the way Melchizedek was a priest.”

But I will not take my mercy away from him or allow my truth to become a lie.

On my holiness I have taken an oath once and for all: I will not lie to David.

Like the moon his throne will stand firm forever. It will be like a faithful witness in heaven.”

O Lord, the heavens praise your miracles and your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.

God is not like people. He tells no lies. He is not like humans. He doesn’t change his mind. When he says something, he does it. When he makes a promise, he keeps it.

He will be a great man and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.

David was a prophet and knew that God had promised with an oath that he would place one of David’s descendants on his throne.

God did this so that we would be encouraged. God cannot lie when he takes an oath or makes a promise. These two things can never be changed. Those of us who have taken refuge in him hold on to the confidence we have been given.

In addition, the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind, because he is not a mortal who changes his mind.”
