The angel also said to me, “The waters you saw, on which the prostitute is sitting, are people, crowds, nations, and languages.

Do not let floodwaters sweep me away. Do not let the ocean swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.

The people of the west will fear the name of the Lord. Those in the east will fear his glory. He will come like a rushing stream. The wind of the Lord pushes him.

I am sinking in deep mud. There is nothing to stand on. I am in deep water. A flood is sweeping me away.

For this reason let all godly people pray to you when you may be found. Then raging floodwater will not reach them.

One of the seven angels who held the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of that notorious prostitute who sits on raging waters.

But after the sixty-two sets of seven time periods, the Anointed One  will be cut off and have nothing. The city and the holy place will be destroyed with the prince who is to come. His end will come with a flood until the end of the destructive war that has been determined.

The Lord has one who is strong and powerful. He is like a hailstorm, a destructive wind. He is like a thunderstorm, an overwhelming flood. He will throw them to the ground forcefully.

One deep sea calls to another at the roar of your waterspouts. All the whitecaps on your waves have swept over me.

The ropes of death had become tangled around me. The torrents of destruction had overwhelmed me.

⌞That is why⌟ darkness surrounds you and you cannot see and a flood of water covers you.

The ropes of the grave had surrounded me. The clutches of death had confronted me.

The Lord commands his mercy during the day, and at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.

Stretch out your hands from above. Snatch me, and rescue me from raging waters and from foreigners’ hands.
