Let arrogant people be put to shame because they lied about me, ⌞yet⌟ I reflect on your guiding principles.

Rather, he delights in the teachings of the Lord and reflects on his teachings day and night.

They surround me with hateful words. They fight against me for no reason.

I want to reflect on your guiding principles and study your ways.

You threaten arrogant people, who are condemned and wander away from your commandments.

Even though influential people plot against me, I reflect on your laws.

Arrogant people have mocked me with cruelty, yet I have not turned away from your teachings.

No one who waits for you will ever be put to shame, but all who are unfaithful will be put to shame.

Let those who gloat over my downfall be thoroughly put to shame and confused. Let those who promote themselves at my expense be clothed with shame and disgrace.

For no reason they hid their net in a pit. For no reason they dug the pit ⌞to trap me⌟.

Those who hate me for no reason outnumber the hairs on my head. Those who want to destroy me are mighty. They have no reason to be my enemies. I am forced to pay back what I did not steal.

Those arrogant people will stumble and fall, and there will be no one to help them get up. I will light a fire in their cities that will burn up everything around them.”

In this way what is written in their Scriptures has come true: ‘They hate me for no reason.’

What credit do you deserve if you endure a beating for doing something wrong? But if you endure suffering for doing something good, God is pleased with you.

He told David, “You are more righteous than I. You treated me well while I treated you badly.

“Why are you pursuing me?” he added. “What have I done? What crime have I committed?
