O Lord, bend your heaven low, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

Our God will come and will not remain silent. A devouring fire is in front of him and a raging storm around him.

The water saw you, O God. The water saw you and shook. Even the depths of the sea trembled.

Your road went through the sea. Your path went through raging water, but your footprints could not be seen.

All of Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because the Lord had come down on it in fire. Smoke rose from the mountain like the smoke from a kiln, and the whole mountain shook violently.

Don’t you fear me?” asks the Lord. “Don’t you tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier that it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they can’t break through. Although they roar, they can’t cross it.

The land will tremble because of this. Everyone who lives in it will mourn. The entire land will rise like the Nile, be tossed about, and then sink like Egypt’s river.

The mountains look at you. They writhe in pain. Floodwaters pass by. The deep ocean roars. Its waves rise up high.

A second time they said, “Hallelujah! The smoke goes up from her forever and ever.”

I saw a large, white throne and the one who was sitting on it. The earth and the sky fled from his presence, but no place was found for them.
