O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you.

I called on the Lord in my distress. I cried to my God for help. He heard my voice from his temple, and my cry for help reached his ears.

From the ends of the earth, I call to you when I begin to lose heart. Lead me to the rock that is high above me.

Listen to my prayer, O Lord. Open your ear to my cry for help. Do not be deaf to my tears, for I am a foreign resident with you, a stranger like all my ancestors.

After a long time passed, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites still groaned because they were slaves. So they cried out, and their cries for help went up to God.

During his life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and he was heard because of his devotion to God.

So he prayed very hard in anguish. His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

You covered yourself with a cloud so that no prayer could get through it.

Even when I cry and call for help, he shuts out my prayer.

Answer me quickly, O Lord. My spirit is worn out. Do not hide your face from me, or I will be like those who go into the pit.

That is why I begin to lose hope and my heart is in a state of shock.

Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, because I pray only to you.

Then the Levitical priests blessed the people. Their voices were heard, and their prayers went to God’s holy place in heaven.

“About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the territory of Benjamin. Anoint him to be ruler of my people Israel. He will save my people from the Philistines because I’ve seen my people’s ⌞suffering⌟ and their cry has come to me.”

Then they got rid of the foreign gods they had and served the Lord. So the Lord could not bear to have Israel suffer any longer.

He fills the needs of those who fear him. He hears their cries for help and saves them.

I sigh as I remember God. I begin to lose hope as I think about him. Selah

Trust him at all times, you people. Pour out your hearts in his presence. God is our refuge. Selah

I will remember these things as I pour out my soul: how I used to walk with the crowd and lead it in a procession to God’s house. ⌞I sang⌟ songs of joy and thanksgiving while crowds of people celebrated a festival.

“Because oppressed people are robbed and needy people groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will provide safety for those who long for it.”
