You have seen ⌞it⌟; yes, you have taken note of trouble and grief and placed them under your control. The victim entrusts himself to you. You alone have been the helper of orphans.

The Lord protects foreigners. The Lord gives relief to orphans and widows. But he keeps wicked people from reaching their goal.

Do not be so far away from me. Trouble is near, and there is no one to help.

You have not handed me over to the enemy. You have set my feet in a place where I can move freely.

You have seen it, O Lord. Do not remain silent. O Lord, do not be so far away from me.

Turn your burdens over to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble.

The God who is in his holy dwelling place is the father of the fatherless and the defender of widows.

God places lonely people in families. He leads prisoners out of prison into productive lives, but rebellious people must live in an unproductive land.

God saw the Israelites ⌞being oppressed⌟ and was concerned about them.

“Never take advantage of any widow or orphan.

If you take any of your neighbor’s clothes as collateral, give it back to him by sunset.

The Lord tears down the house of an arrogant person, but he protects the property of widows.

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere. They watch evil people and good people.

What will you do on the day you are called to account ⌞for these things⌟, when the disaster comes from far away? Where will you run for help? Where will you leave your wealth?

I see everything that they do. They can’t hide anything from me. Their wickedness can’t be hidden; I can see it.

“No one can hide so that I can’t see him,” declares the Lord. “I fill heaven and earth!” declares the Lord.

“Abandon your orphans, and I will keep them alive. Your widows can trust me.”

A destroyer will attack Babylon, its soldiers will be captured, and their bows and arrows will be broken. “I, the Lord, am a God who punishes evil. I will certainly punish them.

Look at the wrong that has been done to me, O Lord. Give me a fair verdict.

Look at all their malice, all their plots against me.

Assyria cannot save us. We won’t ride on horses anymore. We will never again say that the things our hands have made are our gods. You love orphans.”

⌞The Lord says,⌟ “I will cure them of their unfaithfulness. I will love them freely. I will no longer be angry with them.

“Now what do you have against me, Tyre and Sidon and all the regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something I have done? If you are paying me back, I will quickly pay you back for what you have done.

Your eyes are too pure to look at evil. You can’t watch wickedness. Why do you keep watching treacherous people? Why are you silent when wicked people swallow those who are more righteous than they are?

He makes sure orphans and widows receive justice. He loves foreigners and gives them food and clothes.

For this reason I suffer as I do. However, I’m not ashamed. I know whom I trust. I’m convinced that he is able to protect what he had entrusted to me until that day.

No creature can hide from God. Everything is uncovered and exposed for him to see. We must answer to him.

Those who suffer because that is God’s will for them must entrust themselves to a faithful creator and continue to do what is good.

Turn all your anxiety over to God because he cares for you.
