“Do not slander a slave to his master. The slave will curse you, and you will be found guilty.”

The Lord smelled the soothing aroma. He said to himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of humans, even though from birth their hearts are set on nothing but evil. I will never again kill every living creature as I have just done.

People will curse the one who hoards grain, but a blessing will be upon the head of the one who sells it.

Whoever gives to the poor lacks nothing. Whoever ignores the poor receives many curses.

Don’t take everything that people say to heart, or you may hear your own servant cursing you.

Who are you to criticize someone else’s servant? The Lord will determine whether his servant has been successful. The servant will be successful because the Lord makes him successful.

When the seventh year—the year when payments on debts are canceled—is near, you might be stingy toward poor Israelites and give them nothing. Be careful not to think these worthless thoughts. The poor will complain to the Lord about you, and you will be condemned for your sin.

If a slave escapes from his master and comes to you, don’t return him to his master.

David asked Saul, “Why do you listen to rumors that I am trying to harm you?

Your Majesty, please listen to my words. If the Lord has turned you against me, let him be satisfied with an offering. But if mere mortals ⌞have turned you against me⌟, let them be cursed by the Lord. They have prevented me from having a share of the Lord’s inheritance. ‘Go and serve other gods,’ they tell me.

“Will you lead me to these troops?” David asked him. He answered, “Take an oath in front of God that you won’t kill me or hand me over to my master, and I’ll lead you to these troops.”
