A rich person is wise in his own eyes, but a poor person with understanding sees right through him.

People do not become wise merely because they live long. They don’t understand what justice is merely because they’re old.

A rich person’s wealth is his strong city and is like a high wall in his imagination.

The first to state his case seems right ⌞until⌟ his neighbor comes to cross-examine him.

Better to be a poor person who lives innocently than to be one who talks dishonestly and is a fool.

Do not wear yourself out getting rich. Be smart enough to stop.

Have you met a person who thinks he is wise? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

A lazy person thinks he is wiser than seven people who give a sensible answer.

Answer a fool with his own stupidity, or he will think he is wise.

Do not consider yourself wise. Fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.

How horrible it will be for those who think they are wise and consider themselves to be clever.

Brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery so that you won’t become arrogant. The minds of some Israelites have become closed until all of God’s non-Jewish people are included.

Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be arrogant, but be friendly to humble people. Don’t think that you are smarter than you really are.

Tell those who have the riches of this world not to be arrogant and not to place their confidence in anything as uncertain as riches. Instead, they should place their confidence in God who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
