Do not brag about yourself in front of a king or stand in the spot that belongs to notable people,
O Lord, my heart is not conceited. My eyes do not look down on others. I am not involved in things too big or too difficult for me.

Praise should come from another person and not from your own mouth, from a stranger and not from your own lips.
So when you’re invited, take the place of least honor. Then, when your host comes, he will tell you, ‘Friend, move to a more honorable place.’ Then all the other guests will see how you are honored.
“When someone invites you to a wedding, don’t take the place of honor. Maybe someone more important than you was invited.
