If your enemy is hungry, give him some food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him some water to drink.

Elisha answered, “Don’t kill them. Do you kill everyone you take captive in combat? Give them food and water. Let them eat and drink. Then let them go back to their master.”

Then the men who were mentioned by name took charge of the prisoners and gave clothes from the loot to all the prisoners who were naked. They provided clothes for them, gave them sandals, gave them something to eat and drink, and let them bathe. ⌞Like⌟ taking off a coat on a cold day or pouring vinegar on baking soda, so is singing songs to one who has an evil heart.

But I tell you this: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.

Now I know that you certainly will rule as king, and under your guidance the kingdom of Israel will prosper.
