I am heartbroken over you, my brother Jonathan. You were my great delight. Your love was more wonderful to me than the love of women.

Jesus, who makes people holy, and all those who are made holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus isn’t ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

But Ruth answered, “Don’t force me to leave you. Don’t make me turn back from following you. Wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.

So Jonathan made a pledge of mutual loyalty with David because he loved him as much as ⌞he loved⌟ himself.

so he reported to David, “My father Saul is trying to kill you. Please be careful tomorrow morning. Go into hiding, and stay out of sight.

I’ll go out and stand beside my father in the field where you’ll be. I’ll speak with my father about you. If I find out anything, I’ll tell you.”

Once again Jonathan swore an oath to David because of his love for David. He loved David as much as ⌞he loved⌟ himself.

Saul’s son Jonathan came to David at Horesh. He strengthened David’s ⌞faith⌟ in the Lord.
