When you say, “We didn’t know this,” won’t the one who weighs hearts take note of it? Won’t the one who guards your soul know it? Won’t he pay back people for what they do?

A certain kind of person thinks he is pure but is not washed from his own feces.

Each person’s ways are clearly seen by the Lord, and he surveys all his actions.

The path of the righteous is level. O Upright One, you make the road of the righteous smooth.

I, the Lord, search minds and test hearts. I will reward each person for what he has done. I will reward him for the results of his actions.

Weighed—you have been weighed on a scale and found to be too light.

The Messenger of the Lord asked him, “Why have you hit your donkey three times like this? I’ve come here to stop you because the trip you’re taking is evil.

So Jesus said to them, “You try to justify your actions in front of people. But God knows what’s in your hearts. What is important to humans is disgusting to God.

“To the messenger of the church in Thyatira, write: The Son of God, whose eyes are like flames of fire and whose feet are like glowing bronze, says:

I will kill her children. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds. I will reward each of you for what you have done.

In those days Israel didn’t have a king. Everyone did whatever he considered right.

Three hundred men lapped water with their hands to their mouths. All the rest of the men knelt down to drink water.

But the Lord told Samuel, “Don’t look at his appearance or how tall he is, because I have rejected him. God does not see as humans see. Humans look at outward appearances, but the Lord looks into the heart.”

“Do not boast ⌞or⌟ let arrogance come out of your mouth because the Lord is a God of knowledge, and he weighs ⌞our⌟ actions.
