The Lord is far from wicked people, but he hears the prayers of righteous people.
“Surely, God doesn’t listen to idle complaints. The Almighty doesn’t even pay attention to them.
Why are you so distant, Lord? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Even though the Lord is high above, he sees humble people ⌞close up⌟, and he recognizes arrogant people from a distance.
They cried out for help, but there was no one to save them. They cried out to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
Without a doubt, those who are far from you will die. You destroy all who are unfaithful to you.
“They will call to me at that time, but I will not answer. They will look for me, but they will not find me,
A twinkle in the eye delights the heart. Good news refreshes the body.
A sacrifice brought by wicked people is disgusting to the Lord, but the prayers of decent people please him.
But your wrongs have separated you from your God, and your sins have made him hide his face so that he doesn’t hear you.
“These people will go away into eternal punishment, but those with God’s approval will go into eternal life.”
We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners. Instead, he listens to people who are devout and who do what he wants.
The Lord’s eyes are on those who do what he approves. His ears hear their prayer. The Lord confronts those who do evil.”
