A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but with a heartache comes depression.

Understanding is a fountain of life to the one who has it, but stubborn fools punish themselves with their stupidity.

A joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains one’s strength.

Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God. The other prisoners were listening to them.

Be happy in your confidence, be patient in trouble, and pray continually.

In addition, our Lord Jesus Christ lets us continue to brag about God. After all, it is through Christ that we now have this restored relationship with God.

We are proud that our conscience is clear. We are proud of the way that we have lived in this world. We have lived with a God-given holiness  and sincerity, especially toward you. It was not by human wisdom that we have lived but by God’s kindness.

Because Christ suffered so much for us, we can receive so much comfort from him.

People think we are sad although we’re always glad, that we’re beggars although we make many people spiritually rich, that we have nothing although we possess everything.

but be happy as you share Christ’s sufferings. Then you will also be full of joy when he appears again in his glory.
